…This Instant

“…This Instant” is a spontaneous spattering of recollections during my daughter’s recent hospitalization.
Fueled by the COVID 19 crisis that coincides with her illness, the film bookends conversations she has had with her doctors as her hospital stay comes to an end, encapsulating the struggles of those raring to break free from the shackles of their mind while coping with isolating physical boundaries.
It was commissioned by Stacey Donen for his online channel “Greetings from Isolation”.
The Carousel

A mother examines her relationship with her daughter and issues of mental health through theatrical role play with diverse women and languages.
Director’s statement:
When my daughter experienced a disconnect with reality – reality as we perceive it – I became privy to an experience that I was compelled to document.
By reaching out to different women speaking different languages, I recreated mother-daughter scenarios through role play to examine communication patterns that may either strengthen, weaken or distort the filial bond.
In My Head

“In My Head” is a young woman’s monologue treated with non-diegetic sounds and music to enhance the viewer’s experience.
Using 360 camera technology, the filmmaker uses her authorial control to direct the viewer’s gaze to enable spectators to experience the turmoil in the character’s mind.
My Daughter, Myself

A story of acceptance. Prop exercise, made in John Greyson‘s Production class during my MFA program at York University. Filmed at Cinespace, Toronto.
